My Current Fitness Routine

Good morning friends!

Today I'm going to show you what I'm currently doing for a fitness routine.  At this point in time, I'm working out twice a day.  Now don't go thinking I'm She-Ra or something.  These aren't all hard core workouts and there are some days I don't feel like doing anything so I don't.  One thing to remember:  exercising is better than not exercising at all.  Whether you do it 2 or 3 times a week or every day, getting your butt out there is better than sitting on your couch eating potato chips!  We all have busy days, days we like poo and IT IS OK to miss a workout.

I try to alternate my cardio and toning on different days of the week and fill in with yoga and "shifts" devoted to stretching only.  Each session or shift is usually 20-30 minutes, depending on what type of routine I'm working on.  I do my first shift early in the morning before I have breakfast and the second one is sometime in the afternoon or early evening.  I also get lots of additional exercise in by walking two dogs several times a day.  (One dog kinda walks me.)


Here is what the weekly breakdown looks like:

As you can see, I get equal focus on each type of exercise throughout the week.  I typically will do one or two routines a month then switch things up.  These are the routines I'm doing in June.

Yoga:
Bethenny Frankel makes doing a longer yoga routine fun because she is joking through the entire thing.  It keeps a smile on my face when I feel like I want to die towards the end of the dvd.

I love Tara Stiles yoga because when she gets you into a pose, she talks you through the breath and she has you move inside each one rather than holding still and counting the seconds until release. She also gives great tips on how to get into certain poses and has helped me perfect some I was struggling with.



Cardio:
I have always loved to dance and was drawn to Zumba immediately, but it is not convenient for me to go to classes, so I purchases the Zumba Exhilarate DVD set from Amazon.




Toning:
I've been subscribed to the Tone It Up girls on Youtube and follow along with their routines.  Right now, I'm doing their summer Bikini Series.


Stretching:
I do a variety of stretching routines, depending on how I'm feeling and what body parts I've been focusing on in other routines.  One of my favorites is by Cindie Corbin.



So, this is what my fitness routine looks like this month.  Like I said before, I will probably switch things up a bit next month to keep a little variety going.  I'll be posting updates on my Instagram if you want to follow along and see what I'm up to.

  1. I have been thinking about adding a second workout to my daily routine as well. Right now, I workout in the evenings after my kids are in bed (so around 9:00) and I just started Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 DVD (it's 30 day routine). I was wondering if I should add Yoga or Pilates in the morning as a second workout...I think you've just convinced me!

    1. Thanks for the comment! I've really enjoyed the second workout. I try to space out the harder routines so I have one that helps me unwind every day.
