Hello, January! Where in the world did December go? The month was full of baking cookies, eating lots of yummy food and enjoying time with family and friends and although it went by quickly, I wouldn't trade the past thirty-one days for anything in the world.

"For last year's words belong to last year's language, and next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning." - T. S. Eliot
I wish you and your's a very happy new year and a wonderful 2016!

Today, I'm doing a little recap on my One Little Word for 2015 and sharing my word for 2016, along with the goals that come along with that word.
When I sat down to choose my One Little Word last January, I really felt led to the word, "LEARN". I can't say for sure why, but it was stuck in my mind and any other word I debated just didn't measure up.

Good morning, friends, and happy Monday! I don't know about you, but we had some uncharacteristic temperatures for December here this weekend. Most of my family was in shorts and t-shirts and we are usually awaiting snow by this time of the year!

I recently placed an order with Erin Condren for a new life planner and a few accessories. I wanted to share a little peek at the design I got and some of the new features the life planner offers.

It's the holiday season and with it brings very busy schedules. It also brings many opportunities to eat. I don't know about you, but we are BIG snackers around here at ASG. There is always a package of cookies or a pizza lying around and it's so hard to avoid those temptations and stay on a healthy course. The struggle is real, y'all! I like to eat small meals every few hours to keep me feeling my best and when I'm in a hurry and hungry, convenience is key. I'm a busy girl and if I can't pick it up and head out the door, it's probably not going to work.

TGIF friends! Another week down and we are officially just TWO WEEKS FROM CHRISTMAS! [Insert panic emoji here] The Festival of Lights started this week, so Happy Hanukkah to all my friends who celebrate! I hope you and your family are enjoying the season no matter what holiday you observe in your home. It is a time for joy and peace around the world!

Happy Monday! I'm sure you all are greeting me from the other side of your respective devices with bright, cheerful faces as we start this new week together. Got your cup-a in hand and jumping in head first, I assume?

Happy December first! I can NOT believe how quickly November flew by. It seemed like yesterday was Halloween and now here we are, Thanksgiving over and Christmas quickly approaching. I keep trying to dig my heels in. To slow down time. To savor every breath, but nothing seems to be working. Anyway, hello December.

It's Friday! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with your family and friends. Today, I am feeling so very thankful for the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our great country, USA, and often times, miss out on holidays with family. So, to all active and retired service members, THANK YOU for your sacrifice!!

It's Thanksgiving and it's a time to reflect on the things we are grateful for! I am so thankful for my family and friends, for the success of this little space of mine since the rebrand and the many good things to come in the next few months. I'm so grateful for each and every one of my readers who come back, day after day, to read my words, my thoughts and my rants. You all have offered so much encouragement and support to me over the last two years. I am so very blessed.

One of the best things about the holiday season is advent calendars and although this book isn't a calendar, the principle of opening it every day until Christmas is the same.

Monday, again... And I have to admit, I've been dreading today. It's my birthday and I'm feeling particularly old this year, what with everything that has happened in the year so far. I've never been the kind of person who wanted a big deal made out of my birthday, or any holiday, for that matter. I don't like to do gifts, cards and you'd better not ever sing 'happy birthday' to me. I think my mom is doing a birthday cake or something. I'll let my niece blow out the candles. At least she'll enjoy it. I'm not the only one who feels this way, right? Right??

A lot has happened since the great divide of 2015 (aka, the split with my husband) and I've received a lot of questions about how I'm doing and what I am planning for the future. I thought it'd be a great idea to post all my answers here and address everyone at once, but also offer a little encouragement for anyone who might be going through a separation or a divorce and feels alone in the situation.

I am a huge fan of Giada De Laurentiis and own all of her cookbooks, so when Happy Cooking was released at the beginning of this month, I planned to pick it up immediately. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when I got an offer to review this book and jumped at the opportunity.

It's been a hectic week and I haven't had much time to think, let alone reflect on the blessings in my life. I did, however, manage to steal a few quiet moments, here and there, to ground myself and get my mind back in the now. Too often, we dwell on the past or worry about the future, when we can't change either. We can only live in the present, in the moment and enjoy it while we have it.

It's the holiday season and with it comes lots of hearty comfort food! If you're anything like I used to be, you might dread the holidays and the extra weight they bring with them. It doesn't have to be like that, though. You can enjoy the season, along with all the festive meals and treats, without worrying about packing on the pounds.

Oh, Monday, we meet again. Each week, I hesitantly roll out of bed, after the third alarm has been snoozed half a dozen times, and set my feet on the floor. This morning, I greet you with a big steamy mug of tea and some fuzzy slippers. It was 80 degrees earlier this weekend and freezing now. (meh)

Well hello there, friends and happy Friday! This week has been absolutely darling with beautiful weather for the first week of November and I'm loving it. I know this will probably be the last warm stretch before winter unofficially settles in and freezes us all and leaves us longing for the warm sunshine we left behind. Why is it that when we get to September, the weeks fly by and suddenly the holidays are upon us then we blink and find ourselves in a new year? I'm trying to slow waaay down and enjoy the beauty while it lasts.

I think pretty much most of the world is infatuated with Instagram. It used to be Facebook, then Twitter, then Pinterest, but Instagram is here to stay. It allows us a glimpse into someone's life and work in little square images, well-written captions and accompanying hashtags.

Yay! It's Monday again and we are back with Emily from over at Ember Grey talking about gratitude. The weeks have been flying by and October is at a close and November is upon us. I simply cannot believe that Thanksgiving is less than a month away and Christmas is only two! Yikes! Let's slow down a bit and jump into what's important.

It's the end of yet another month and it seems that no matter how hard I try to dig my heels in, the days just keep flying by. I'm doing a few things differently these days, including getting outside to enjoy some fresh air and the beauty that surrounds me. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed, so I'm living each day like it's my last.

It has been such a very long time since I've written a Simple Gratitude post. I do keep a gratitude journal for daily tracking, but I have slipped on using it for a while. In all honesty, some events of the past few months have made me bitter and focus on the negative things, but today, I'm turning over a new leaf and getting back into the swing of keeping my eyes on the blessings in my life.

If you are on Instagram, you know how key it is to choose creative hashtags to go along with your images and adequately describe the content you share. In fact, it is probably the most important thing, secondary to taking clear, sharp pictures. Whether you are new to hashtagging or are just unsure which tags to use, I am here to offer a little assistance with choosing the perfect fall-inspired tags to use this season.

Fri-yay! We finally made it! The weekends at this time of the year always seem to be buzzing with activity, whether school sports or trips to the farmers markets or fall festivals. I always try to take a few moments to myself on Fridays to relax and recharge so I can jump into the busy weekends with purpose.

It's been a long time since I've posted consistently here on the blog. So much has changed since then and I think it's appropriate to reflect on the month, but also the entire summer that I've spent away from my little corner of the internet.

You may have remembered a true story out of Atlanta in 2005 of a hostage situation during which an escaped prisoner holds a local woman captive in an apartment overnight.

I don't know about you, but my skin always seems to freak out when the seasons change. It gets particularly bad when we go from summer to fall or winter to spring, bouncing from a super humid or dry climate to the opposite at a moment's notice. Taking good care of your skin year round is essential to keep it healthy during these tougher seasons. Not doing so could result in breakouts, overly dry or oily skin or irritations from your favorite products.

While the decision to use essential oils is a very personal one, this article is not intended to "prescribe" oils for any specific medical condition. Doterra essential oils are not regulated or approved by the FDA to treat or cure any disease or medical condition. The oils I share in this article are ones that I feel have given me relief from certain conditions and side effects. I was not prompted or compensated by Doterra to share my thoughts on their products. As always, all opinions are my own.
If you have lived in North American and some parts of Europe over the past several years, chances are, you have heard about essential oils. I'm not here to sell you oils or to pressure you to sell them yourself, I'm simply here to share my month-long trial and experience with them.

Good morning and happy Friday, friends! We made it through the week and are so close to the weekend, I can smell the fresh-cut grass and hear the casual bustle on the street. It's been a busy couple of weeks here and I'm excited to kick back and relax over the weekend.
I've spent the past week doing some reading, some porch sitting and enjoying spring's first berries.

One of the best ways to learn humility is by serving others, also known as hospitality. I'm not writing about entertaining, which most would think of when they hear the word. I'm talking about selfless acts of service.

I don't get caught up in a lot of blogging/vlogging fads, but there is one that started going around a few months ago that I couldn't pass up. It is called "Dear Me" and it is based on the book by the same name in which people share letters to their sixteen-year-old selves. Somehow, a challenge was started for writers, bloggers and vloggers to share their letters on their respective home base sites.
This is mine.

The weeks are starting to run together as they usually do when we hit May. The days are longer and the school year is wrapping up and it seems like everyone is go, go, going all the time.
If you've been hanging around the blog over the last few weeks, you'll notice that I have not been maintaining my normal posting schedule. I'll be going into more detail as to why this is later in the week, but today's post will be the re-start or my normal blogging calendar.
