Ok, so I'll admit it. I was a little skeptical when I first heard the title of this book. It was only when I received it in the mail and started reading it that I began to understand what the author, Max Davis, meant when he referred to Jesus being a green-eyed brunette.

It all started when he was in high school. He wasn't a Christian and had no interest in being one or going to church. Then a green-eyed brunette walked into his life. He knew she was different than other girls and he soon found out why. She was a Christian and because of her influence in his life, he started going to church with her and also became one.

Fast-forward to present day when he meets a woman in the coffee aisle at the grocery store. She has a rare skin disease and after starting a conversation with her, she tells him that she uses her disease to be an encouragement to others. He is amazed at her love for life and for Christ even though she has this condition. He also realizes how he initially judged her based on what she looked like on the outside - not a very Christ-like thing to do.

When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette is a book filled with stories like these - each with a message. We might look at someone on the outside and think they aren't worthy. They aren't on "our level", but in reality, what if that person is Jesus in disguise? It's easy to love someone who is beautiful on the inside and out, but in order to love like Jesus did - like God commands us to - we must love EVERYONE equally. We should love the homeless person on the street corner the same as we would a good friend. We should love them like God does.

This book is so uplifting and I can't even describe the impact it has had on my life in this blog post. I really hope you get a chance to read the book for yourself. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to grow spiritually and learn to be more Christ-like in their everyday lives.
