Monthly Reflections | March

What I'm currently up to in life and on the blog. #currently #takingstock #monthlyreflections

Does anyone else dislike the feeling of microfiber fabric on their skin? To me, it feels like what you'd think a cat would feel if you pet them backward, from the tail to the head. I bring this up because I washed my hair about six hours ago and it's still dripping wet. (My hair is super thick and long and I don't like to use heat tools.) I was just Googling those "turbie towels" that you saw on the infomercials a decade or more ago and was disappointed when I found out they are microfiber. Guess I'll stick with drippy hair.

I'm in a weird mood, guys.

#Collaboreads | Green with Envy

A bookish linkup with friends - #Collaboreads | Green with Envy - A Simpler Grace

I'm jumping back in for another #collaboreads post with Rachel and Kristin. This month's theme is "green with envy" and the book I chose has both the color green on the cover and a plot that revolves around a sugar cane (also green) plantation. Keep reading to see what I thought about this month's novel... because I have soooooo many thoughts.

"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much, performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well." - Vincent Van Gogh

I woke up today and felt motivated. This does not happen very often, especially on Mondays, but I'm going to take advantage of it. With a big mug of tea in hand, I'm going to conquer the world. (At least I feel like I could.)

Exodus 2 | Bible Journaling

Journaling the story of Moses #biblejournaling #illustratedfaith Exodus 2 | Bible Journaling - A Simpler Grace

For as long as I can remember, when spring comes rolling around, I am reminded of two passages in the Bible. The first, obviously, is the Easter story: the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. The second is the story of Moses. Perhaps it's because The Ten Commandments is always airing on television around this time of the year. Whatever the reason, I wanted to journal this particular part of Scripture this week, from Exodus, when baby Moses was placed in a basket and sent downriver to escape the Pharaoh's decree that all male Israelite infants be put to death.

If You and I Had Coffee | vol 10

 A conversation over coffee #coffeedates - If You and I Had Coffee | vol 10 - A Simpler Grace

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at the local coffee bar and order a couple of brews with whiskey and Irish cream in them, in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I'd tell you that Daylight Savings Time has been kicking my butt all week. Not that I've been more tired (I'm always tired) but having daylight later in the day throws my schedule all off. Not to mention ending last week with summer-like temperatures and getting six inches of snow earlier this week. I. Can't. Even.

"Enjoy the little things in life because one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things." - Kurt Vonnegut

Good morning and happy Monday!

...or perhaps it's only happy now that you've had your first cup of coffee. Whatever the case may be, I hope you remember to take some time today to think about the little things you are grateful for. These are the moments that make up our lives!

"We are doing ourselves no favors when we look to the crowd to tell us where we are." - Erin Loechner

I don't know what it is, but I woke up this morning feeling empowered and inspired and ready to take on the week. Maybe I should say I spent all Sunday watching feminism panels and TEDx talks on YouTube. Maybe I should also say that I'm reading some pretty amazing books by some pretty powerful female authors. Maybe I should just say that I'm finally feeling like I'm back in the groove again and I'm ready to kick some Monday butt. Let's do this thing.

What I Learned | Winter 2017

What I Learned | Winter 2017 - A Simpler Grace

We are always learning and growing and it's important to acknowledge the progress we make so we can fully appreciate how far we've come. The lovely Emily Freeman (author and blogger) hosts a fun writing exercise and link up so we can all share the things we've learned in that season. I loved the idea of reflecting on lessons learned, so I was inspired to join in.

Hello March | Goals

A monthly series tracking the goals I've set both in my personal and blogging life. #goals Hello March | Goals - A Simpler Grace

Oy... If I'm being honest, I'd admit that I would be surprised if I checked off ONE goal from last month. February was complete chaos. I spent an entire week in bed with the flu. Then another week down because of spinoff ailment resulting from the flu. There was some stuff going on here on the homefront and I didn't get much time to do anything for myself. I'm crossing my fingers that March will be kinder to me.
