Monthly Reflections | April

What I'm currently up to in life and on the blog. #currently #takingstock #monthlyreflections

"When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of truth and love have always won." - Mahatma Gandhi

Well, April is coming to an end and I can't say I'm sorry to see it go. It's been a tough month and I am hoping and praying that May is kinder. I'm sending the month off with a glass of wine in hand. Here's to fresh starts!

Hi, friends. We made it to the weekend! Has this felt like the longest week ever or is it just me? It's been a stressful one for me and I need a glass of wine and some relaxation. Quick reminder for all you bookworms out there... The Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon kicks off tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 8:00 a.m. EST. Are you reading along? I managed to read about twenty-two hours for the last one back in October and I'm hoping to beat my record this weekend. I'll be sharing updates on my IG stories if you want to follow along. Have a great weekend!

#Collaboreads | Young Adult Novel

#Collaboreads | Young Adult Novel - A Simpler Grace

Good day, friends. I'm back again to join Rachel and Kristin in another #Collaboreads post. This month, we are talking about a young adult novel we read this month. Other than the really popular series like Divergent and The Hunger Games, I've never been a big fan of young adult fiction before, so I was hesitant to select just any book for this month's prompt. I did happen to have a YA novel on my reading list this year, and I thought it was a great opportunity to give it a shot! Keep reading to see what my thoughts were.

"She was a genius of sadness, immersing herself in it, separating its numerous strands, appreciating its subtle nuances. She was a prism through which sadness could be divided into its infinite spectrum." - Jonathan Safran Foer

We're rolling into the hardest week of the year for my family with the anniversary of my brother's passing coming up and while I do plan to delve a little deeper into the topic in my monthly letter later this week, I want to focus on a different angle today.

Inspiration Through Art | A Tribute to Robert Rosselle

Inspiration Through Art | A Tribute to Robert Rosselle - A Simpler Grace

On March 9, 2015, I sat down and made a list. It was a list of things I wanted to do in the next one thousand and one days. A hundred and one things, to be exact. Number fifteen on this list is what I'm writing about today.

"Slow down. Life is crossing the road." - Debasish Mridha

Easter Sunday used to be a major turning point when I was growing up. It was the day I could start wearing my white sandals again and it usually meant that my school wardrobe would now consist of shorts and skirts instead of jeans and sweaters. Now that these wardrobe rules no longer apply, the seasons kind of run together for me and time seems to pass by much quicker than it used to, making it even more important to try to slow down and enjoy every moment I am given.

It's officially Easter weekend and the start of spring break for some. What are your weekend plans? I am going to be doing a lot of cooking and baking to get ready for our big family Easter dinner on Sunday. I also hope to get some reading done and maybe sneak in some time to work on a creative project or two. Hope you all have a great holiday!

If You and I Had Coffee | vol 11

A conversation over coffee #coffeedates

If you and I had coffee...

I'd order a frozen cappuccino - it's been warm enough for one lately - and we'd go strolling along a pebbled path through the park. The weather has been glorious, but mother nature has been a real pill lately, so it wouldn't surprise me if we jumped back into to tundra-like temperatures again before summer gets here. We'd better take advantage of these days when we get them.

What I Read | March

A look back at what I read last month. #ASGbookshelf #whatIread

March was quite a month! I did so much reading - twenty books in all, but some aren't featured here because I haven't had time to review them on the publisher's sites yet. So many good books and I am already excited about the ones I have planned for this month. Let's jump right in!

"Many people lose the small joys in the hope for the big happiness." - Pearl S. Buck

I used to be one of those people who was always waiting for something big to happen. I was never satisfied with the little joys in my life because they never measured up to that big happiness I was sure would come sooner or later. In fact, most of the time, I didn't even see the little joys. I missed out on a lot. Don't be one of those people. If and/or when your big happiness comes, enjoy it then, but don't let those little joys pass you by.

Hello April | Goals

A monthly series tracking the goals I've set both in my personal and blogging life.

Hey friends! Can you believe we are in the fourth month of 2017? Officially through the first quarter of the year. Let's try to slow down for the month of April, shall we? Speaking of April... Did you know it is Donate Life Month? This cause is near and dear to my family. You can read why here.
