Simple Gratitude | 75

Today I'm sharing my #gratefulheart on the blog #gratitude #feelingthankful

Hello, May! We had a hot weekend and it felt like we had skipped right over spring and into summer. The pool should be up and ready (hopefully) by the end of the week and I plan to get as much use out of it as possible this season. How was your weekend, friend?

This week, I'm grateful for:
  • New routines. Starting in May, I'm changing up the way I run my daily schedule, so last week, I began playing around with how I would plot these changes out and I like how I've decided to work it. Gosh, I love feeling organized.
  • Weather reports. Ok, my nerd is going to show a bit on this one, but I've been following the tornado coverage out in the plains and have been geeking out. All the satellite and radar maps and pressure readings get my heart thumpin'. One day, I'll get to ride along with Reed Timmer and photograph tornados, like I've always dreamed of.
  • Late night phone chats with my sister. Because, you know, sometimes only a sister can fit the bill.
  • My nephew who makes me roll on the floor laughing. Captain Adorable, who is now two years old, has such a fun personality and is at the stage where his vocabulary is growing quickly. My sister put him on the phone the other night and he was a hoot. I really needed those smiles after the week I'd had.
  • The best friends a girl could ask for. What's really neat about my friends is that a handful of them, I've never actually met in real life. Crazy, right? I met these people in various places online and immediately connected to them and we have been the best of friends since. They live all over the U.S. (and a few in other countries) and I am so blessed to have them all in my life, especially this week when I was going through a tough time. One day, I'd like to plan some trips so I can get out to each of these amazing souls and give them a real-life hug.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. I'm grateful for so many things: having such great in-laws that took our 4 year old daughter for a week holiday. Grateful for being able to focus on my much-loved work.

One thing I would love though is to see a tornado. I've never seen one yet; we don't get any here, in Holland.

Have a nice week, Hugs from Amsterdam :)

  2. So I just recently told someone that I think it would be fun to ride along with a storm chaser... needless to say I received an odd look. I'm a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. Gratitude lists are so important. I've been surrounded by some wonderful new people in my life that I'm so thankful for. Hope it's a great Monday.

  3. Yay, in-laws for the win! I'm glad you were able to get some time to focus on your work. And tornadoes are quite destructive, so I enjoy seeing them only if they are out in a remote area and not putting anyone in harm's way. Thanks for stopping by today, Victoria!

  4. It is my lifelong dream to chase storms, so I know what you feel! I'm glad you have been able to make some new connections in life. I hope you have a lovely May, Sheryl! :)

  5. I have ALWAYS been into storms and have wanted to be a storm chaser! I get excited for tornado season...but of course I always want everyone to be safe! I am grateful for my dog today, he is a little Morkie and he has hurt himself so he has a trip to the vet this afternoon, but I just want him to feel better because he makes me feel better when I am hurting too!

  6. Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that your pup is hurt. I hope everything turns out well at the vet! And yes to tornado season! It would be great if they would stay in remote areas so no one is in danger.

  7. Oh man our weather here is SO WEIRD. It's cold and dreary pretty much all week and then Sunday? 78 and sunny! What the heck?

  8. Yeah, this has to be global warming. It's been bizarre!

  9. I wanted to start a gratitude journal since so many days, your post just motivates me to do it!

  10. You should do it! It's encouraging to keep one.

  11. Oh my son caught the weather reports and I'm kicking myself for it. He has severe anxiety and he was stressing all about it on the way to school. I feel horrible for the people in the US who were affected by the tornadoes and flooding. Sigh...mother nature can be vicious.

  12. Aww, poor thing. The weather can cause anxiety but I hope his resides quickly. <3

  13. I totally geek out over weather reports too--especially when it's a storm watch but that's just because we don't get tornadoes in this part of the country very often.

Yay for organization!! Trying to get there myself ;)

Hope this week is better for you, momma. Sending lots of xoxos

  14. Thanks, friend! <3 (I'm glad I'm not the only weather nerd around here!)

  15. I geek out over weather reports too! Once upon a time I considered becoming a meteorologist and sometimes I still really want to. I've always wanted to be a storm chaser too. :)

  16. I totally wanted to go to school for meteorology but the colleges I was looking at didn't have programs for it. I settle for following along with all the big storm chasers and watching Twister as much as I can. :)

  17. I have met some of the greatest people through blogging! One of my earliest blogging friends is getting married later this year and she even asked me to be in her wedding! We've met several times at this point, but just how cool is that?

  18. That is so neat, Katie! Just goes to show you that connection is not something that has to happen face-to-face. More and more people are meeting through cyber space and having genuine relationships - something that would have been inconceivable thirty years ago!

  19. Having a set routine that works for you is always nice! I typically have the same morning routine which works really well for me. The weather over the weekend was insane in so many areas. Thankfully we did not get any of it this time. I do think it would be exciting to photograph tornadoes. A little bit of a thrill going through you. I do not get to see my sister as often as I used to, so phone calls are always the best.

  26. It's always a great way to start the week with gratitude! I am grateful to be able to chat with my mom and grandma every day especially since we live across the country. Hope you have a wonderful May and it's also hot here in Tucson!

I love feeling organized too! And I totally agree about the friendship thing...just so fabulous to have that in your life! Happy May!

  33. I have! So interesting! I love anything like that.

  34. It's funny you say that. I don't share my niece and nephew's names in the public arena for privacy reasons, so I've always called him Captain Adorable and my niece the Princess. And yes, what you're picturing is probably accurate. He needs to be wearing a cape at all times. :D

  35. Yay for organization! Hope you have a lovely May, Julie. <3

  36. Yes! My life is so disorganized right now. My big goal for the moth is to get it together. Quite the challenge but so needed! I dont know how Id get by with out my friends. And the ones in my computer are around more real than the ones in real life. If that makes sense. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Totally know what you mean! Hope you have a great (and organized) May! <3

  38. I'm with you on the Sister front! She's my go-to whenever I need a venting session, someone to calm me down, someone to keep me entertained while I'm driving from one place to the next :) Sisters are the best!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love that you do a gratitude post instead of a goals post. I also totally agree with you about late night sister talks. It isn't a good week if I miss calls from my sis!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I do a gratitude post every Monday. I love recognizing the things i'm grateful for. And I agree about sister talks! :)

  41. OMG weather reports!!! I feel the same way haha!
