Simple Gratitude | 84

Today I'm sharing my #gratefulheart on the blog #gratitude #feelingthankful

"Keep your face always toward the sunshine and the shadows will fall behind you." - Walt Whitman

Hiya, friends! Does anyone else think this is going to be a two cup of coffee kind of day? After having a short work week for the holiday last week, I believe this one is going to drag on, but it's all good. I have so much to do and I'm going to start tackling that list right about now. Hope you have a great Monday, loves!

This week, I'm grateful for:
  • That my noisy neighbors finally stopped setting off their fireworks. I'm not talking about those little fountains you can get from the little roadside stands. These were the big boys and they were shooting them off into the air until well after midnight on Saturday. The last one I heard was around 1 a.m. and all has been quiet since... Let's cross our fingers that it stays that way.
  • A fireball of inspiration by the name of Natalie Franke. Guys, if you catch this post early enough, go over to her Instagram and watch the replay of her live story from last night. This woman was born to be an encourager. I am so thankful for her and the words she shared.
  • J.R.R. Tolkien. Confession. I have never read any of the LOTR books or seen any of the movies. Shocking, right? And I call myself a nerd... Anyway, I sat down this weekend and read The Hobbit for the first time and I am so flippin' in love. I cannot say why it's taken me so long to do it but I cannot wait to get into the other books.
  • Good skincare. I was blessed with some decent skin - minimal breakouts, not overly oily and until recently, it seemed to be aging fairly well. This weekend, I was doing one of my deep cleanses and turned the mirror over to the magnifying side... Yeah, well that was a mistake. Those fine lines are creeping in and I'm actually starting to look my age. Give me all the anti-aging creams and serums and magic potions, please!
  • People who stand up for what is right. Need I say more?

What are you grateful for today?

  3. So glad to hear that the fireworks stopped. I can't even imagine how annoying that must have been for you. I'm grateful that my daughters allergy test has finally come. I hate that she has to have it but so happy that we're finally going to (hopefully) get to the bottom of her food restrictions.

  4. Oh my goodness, Jenny, I hope you get some answers. It's tough when a child is suffering and you don't know what is causing it!

  5. I love gratitude posts! Yes, be thankful for good skin! It really is a blessing. This Monday AM I am thankful for my cuddly dog and the fact that it's still summer, and school hasn't started yet for me! LOL

  6. Yes, I'm trying to savor every drop of summer! Have a great week, Chelsea!

  9. I switched up my skincare routine a few months ago after feeling like it was so horrible for someone my age! I've been working to get my hormones under control but also the switch to cleaner products seemed to be the key! I use the ones that doTERRA sells which contain essential oils. They're seriously my fav!

I am so grateful for this past weekend and taking some time to just relax. The next few weekends are packed with things for my high school best friend's wedding which I am maid of honor, so I'm grateful for some downtime before things really pick up.

  10. DoTERRA's clay mask is the best. I always prefer cleaner products to ones filled with chemicals.

  11. Oh I hear you on the fireworks. Thankfully they stopped in our neighborhood after the 4th was over, but that night they were intense! Good skincare is something I'm giving more thought to again, I'd been kind of sliding on that front.

  12. The fireworks were never-ending here. I live in a very rural area and there are no noise ordinances to keep the peace. lol

  13. I am grateful for coffee and an easy baby! I hear you on those fine lines ugh

  14. An easy baby is definitely something to be grateful for! Hope you have a great week, Neely. :)

  15. Definitely a 2 coffee day. But I'm grateful that I don't have any place to be.

I've read The Hobbit, but I need to read the other books. I loved the movies, though! :)

Here's to a great week. xo

  16. I have never been more annoyed than when I was staying at the cottage in Northern Michigan for Canada Day weekend.
    For real.
The pewing and the powing of the fireworks and whatnot...it did not quit for all the days. And I'm talking during the DAY. You can't see fireworks at 11 am ya'll. I'm surprised that I didn't have to sew some fingers on.

  17. I am always grateful for my coffee on Monday mornings! I am also grateful that on those mornings I need that coffee I only have to walk down the hallway into my office to go to work. Working from home has some perks!

  18. Such a wonderful grateful list. Today i'm thankful for my new house, my amazing husband and a life so filled with love and happiness that it seems so surreal sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ooh, hope you're enjoying your commitment-free Monday! I need to see the movies as soon as I finish the books.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Uuugh, that is so annoying! Glad they seem to be behind us now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. That sounds like the ideal work situation!

    ReplyDelete
  22. It was so good! Definitely going to re-read that one!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congrats on the new house! A good husband is always something to be grateful for. :)

  24. Our next door neighbors also set off loud fireworks right outside my daughter's window. My husband asked them to move further away. I was grateful when they stopped too!

  25. I was also grateful once the fireworks stopped. My neighbors also were shooting off the huge ones until 1 am and it was scaring my dog. But I am grateful for the quiet. Today, I am grateful for having a bit of extra energy!

  26. This is a great list. Im glad you enjiyed the hobbit. I havent read that in years! Im grateful for the strength Ive had lately. Some days I have to literally carry myself through the day but I havent crashed yet LOL. Also, we just had a conversation with the boys about how its better to get in trouble for doing the right thing than it is for doing the wrong. That conversation, with an 8 and 12 year old, went sideways fast. But in the end, they understood, I hope!

  27. Some people are so inconsiderate. I live in a very rural area so there is quite a bit of space between homes, but that noise carries a long way.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've never read LOTR but I have seen the movies. They bored me to tears... which is sort of shameful for an English major. lol

    ReplyDelete
  29. Aww, pups hate fireworks. That must have been torture for you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm so glad to hear you have a little extra strength. I know that is a big deal when you are used to being exhausted all the time. That's awesome that you're teaching your boys that. I don't think many parents do anymore.

  31. I'm super excited about seeing the movies!

Oh gosh, I'm done with the fireworks! haha I read The Hobbit years ago and really liked it - but I could never get into Fellowship of the Ring. I liked the movies though.

  33. I'll be starting on Fellowship soon. I can't wait!

  34. What a beautiful idea for a blog post series! Finding happiness and light amongst the little things is what makes life worth living, and if we're not careful, we can easily miss out on all the great things that surround us!

I've never read The Hobbit, but I suspect that I'll get around to it one day as I like giving all best selling books a try, and I didn't mind the movie either!

  35. It's funny you quote from Walt Whitman. His birthplace is at the end of the road I live on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh my goodness, that's so neat! I love getting to see historic places like that, especially when it comes to literature.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've always been grateful for good skin too! But my beautiful therapist told me the other day that I need to frown less as apparently I'm getting lines on my forehead! Argh! It's like I almost can't help but frown when I look at a screen though... perhaps we're just doomed for ageing!? *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  38. I know exactly what you're saying! I used to have a permanent line down the center of my forehead from frowning so much. It's hard work to re-train yourself not to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. What's with the fireworks? We have neighbors that have shot them off every night since the 4th. Ugh!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I love the Hobbit! It's my favorite book! (But least favorite movie!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Every morning that we wake up is a greatful gift. Simple to big things, we must be grateful of. No matter may it be happiness or sadness. Appreciating your post.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I actually heard a few more being set off after writing this post. I'm hoping these people run out of them soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Haven't seen the movie yet. I'm going to read the whole series then binge on the movies. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Amen to that! I'm always grateful for every day I'm given! Thanks for stopping by, Margarette.
