Hello January | Goals

I'm starting the month with some good intentions and a few goals. What is a goal you've set for this monht? #goals #goalsetting

January is like pulling out a brand new notebook. Crisp sheets that snap apart when you separate the pages from each other. The smell of a fresh binding. The smooth glide of a pen on the freshly-printed lines. It's like a newly-opened box of colored pencils. The first turn of the sharpener hastening the points and leaving colored shaving swirls in its wake. Oh, how sad the world would be without the clean slate of January and the chance to set some goals.

My goals for December. Let's see how I did...
  • Workout every day this month and increase Fitbit step goals weekly I didn't do a dedicated workout every day this month, but I did increase my step goals by several thousand. Half-win.
  • Eat clean and gluten-free every day this month Haha. Nope. Too many holiday cookies.
  • Stick to my editorial calendar Yes! I shared eighteen posts in December.
  • Complete my 2017 reading challenges and catch up on book reviews I completed my year with two hundred and four books read, but I'm still reading a few of the books from my challenges. I'm also still working on catching up on my book reviews. There's a whole lot of them.
  • Plan 2018 reading challenges and write my master reading list Yes! Come by tomorrow to see the master list!
  • Complete the December Bible-in-a-year section and find a study plan for 2018 Yep! I completed the year strong and found/created a new study plan for this year.
  • Plan 2018 first quarter editorial calendar (blog and freelance) Done and done.
  • Research Whole30 and plan for January I've researched and planned a menu. Fingers crossed that I can stick with it.
  • Work on rebranding and launching my Etsy shop I worked on some of the rebranding but have not done most of the work. Back to work on this in January.
  • Plan my 2018 passion projects Yes! I have some really fun things I'll be working on. I'll give updates on them soon...
  • Purge my possessions before the new year I went through all my clothing and my bookshelf and purged so much. I also cleaned out some of the stuff I was storing and got rid of a lot of that too. I feel so much lighter!
  • Choose my 2018 One Little Word and set some goals for the coming year Check out my word of the year here!
  • Work on me, inside and out This is a work-in-progress but I did a lot of work on me in December and will continue through the first quarter of this year.
And my goals for January...
  • Workout every day this month and increase my Fitbit step goals weekly
  • Whole30 (oy!) and do a detox fast one day a week
  • Stick to my editorial calendar
  • Read twenty books
  • Complete the She Reads Truth section for January
  • Draft four freelance articles and pitch three
  • Complete one open course
  • Work on my passion projects
  • Focus on self-care
  • Unplug and have a technology fast one day a week
  • Work on opening my Etsy shop!
What goals did you set for yourself this month?

  1. Sticking to an editorial calendar alone would be a huge accomplishment for me! Haha. I am so bad at it!

  2. I'm joining a Beachbody program, it should be here any day, and I'm scared crapless about it. I just need to stick with it!!

  3. You killed those December goals! I'm excited to see your Etsy shop. If you have any questions about Etsy feel free to reach out. It can be overwhelming. Good luck with your goals!

  4. It's hard for me too, but it helps remind me to plan ahead and try to write in batches instead of waiting until the last minute, which I'm notorious for doing. :)

  6. Thank you so much, Elizabeth! I had an Etsy store open years ago, but the site (and regulations) have changed so much since then. I might take you up on that offer. :)

  7. Great job on your December goals and I hope you slay all the January ones. I definitely need to work on writing posts and scheduling ahead for the blog (I have nothing) because that would make it less stressful and give me more wiggle room. I have MOST of the books I've read recently reviewed, but not all, so I need to work on that too.

  10. Wow! Great job on December! You accomplished a ton, and looks like you're set up for success with January. I completed the Whole30 a summer ago. It was hard, but if you have your mind set, you'll be able to do it. Can't wait to read about your progress.
