Monthly Reflections | September

Wrapping up the month and sharing what I've been up to in life and on the blog. What is your favorite moment of September? #currently

Usually, September is one of my favorite months. This year, it was not so great. I spent most of it recovering from some yucky health stuff and dealing with the loss of my grandmother but also working through some grief for things that I shouldn't still be holding on to. But I can't complain. There were good moments this month as well, along with some opportunities to learn and grow.

Dear Reflection | A Letter of Self Love

An open letter about self love when loving yourself isn't easy. #letters

Five Things | What's Soothing My Soul Right Now

Five things about what's soothing my soul right now. #fivethings

For what feels like the longest summer, I've been in a sort of transitional period. It's been one of those seasons of life that makes me feel anxious. Like I'm waiting for something to happen, but we all know how I struggle with patience. I keep going back to Lara Casey's message about the seasons and how we need to be intentional in all four - stillness, growth, hard work, and rest - but it's so hard. I want the hard work and growth all the time!

Simple Gratitude | 138

I'm sharing my #gratefulheart on the blog. What are you grateful for today? #gratitude #feelingthankful

Last week and the weekend was a whirlwind filled with lots of tears, strolls down memory lane, hurricane scares, impromptu family meals, and all the emotional things. So many times in the last few months, I've thought about discontinuing these posts, feeling that they are too redundant and not interesting enough for a lot of people to read. Then, things like the death of a loved one happen, and I'm reminded that even in the midst of loss, there are so many things to be grateful for. And so we continue on.

If You and I Had Coffee | vol 27

Join me for a conversation over coffee? Stop by to link up your post! #coffeedates

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at the local park with coffees in hand. There's this big square in the middle with gardens and winding pathways, and we'd choose a bench among the late summer blooms to have our chat. The air would be warm but a cool breeze would hint to the fact that fall was on the way, and we'd talk about how excited we were for sweater weather to arrive at long last.

What I Read | August (+ FREE Fall Reading List Printable)

A look back at what I read last month. #ASGbookshelf #whatIread

It was a quiet month on the bookshelf. I only read about half of what I usually consume, but it was nice to slow down and enjoy what I was reading. I was excited because there were so many wonderful books on this month's list, including two about dogs. I've been on an animal kick lately, so take that as a hint of more to come in the following weeks.

Simple Gratitude | 136

I'm sharing my #gratefulheart on the blog. What are you grateful for today? #gratitude #feelingthankful
And just like that, September is here. The unofficial start to fall brings with it the feeling of a fresh start, and I have never felt more needing of one than this year. I've loved this particular season change since I was a young girl. I remember the first few weeks of school, where the early mornings were crisp and the dew-covered grass would stick to my shoes, making them squeak as I walked to the bus stop. The days would be comfortably warm, but the nights would introduce a slight chill to the air, turning the leaves to a rich palette of burgundy, auburn, and gold. I am so ready for you, fall.

What I Learned | Summer 2018

Today I'm sharing the lessons I learned this summer. #whatilearned
Once again, it's time to join Emily Freeman in sharing what we learned this season. It's not been an easy summer, but there are many lessons to be learned, even when the going is tough. I don't know if it's because I'm older or busier, but the seasons seem to be whipping by at lightning speed. I have to keep a little note on my phone to keep track of these little lessons as the weeks go by, and this practice has served as a reminder of all the things I have to be grateful for, hard lessons included.
