Another month gone by and it seems like I'm stuck in a cycle of perpetual frustration. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one who has been in a rut and feeling depressed or apathetic lately. It's been a hard year for so many people. After a lot of reflection, I realize I might be doing a lot of damage by placing so many expectations - and unrealistic ones, at that - on myself. Maybe you are too?

If you've ever had anxiety, you know how tiring it can be. You often tend to overthink things and an overactive brain can increase stress levels and make you feel even worse. I have generalized anxiety and a panic disorder as well as situational anxiety. In other words, my mind runs at an anxious baseline but it gets worse when I'm worried about a specific thing or event like a social gathering with people I don't know.

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at a local farm to visit the pumpkin patch. They have a great little coffee stand there in the farm market and we'd order our drinks then we'd hitch a ride on the next hay wagon and head out to the fields. We'd enjoy the beautiful cool day while sipping our steaming beverages as we bounce along through fields of apple trees coming near the end of their season.

Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Ice Cream Sandwiches

As soon as September rolls around, I start craving pumpkin. By October, it's a necessity. So, I couldn't resist trying a new recipe this month and combining a few of my favorite things - pumpkin, snickerdoodles, and ice cream - in one of the best ice cream sandwiches I've ever had.

In the past, my goal setting posts have been last-minute efforts, following the same generic template and essentially listing the same ten goals I've had all year. When I revamped the post this summer and switched to doing these on a quarterly basis instead of every month, I started putting more thought into the posts, but also the goals themselves.
