If You and I Had Coffee | vol 33

Join me for a conversation over coffee? #coffeedates

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at my place and settle down on the sofa next to the fire since the outside air still has a bit of a chill to it. I'd have some hot cocoa in my favorite mug that I like to call "Chip," because there is a little crack on the rim and it reminds me of Chip from Beauty and the Beast. I might even toss a blanket over my lap and plop a few marshmallows into my mug, all in the spirit of being extra cozy.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd ask you if this new season is coming in like a lion or a lamb where you're from. It's been a lion here in the Mideast, as we had a snowstorm just last week, but we are showing more signs of spring every day. I'd tell you that I plan to pull my camera out of storage and go on a nature walk later this week. Usually, at this time of the year, all the trees are starting to bud and prepare to open up and I always love to snap some pictures of those seasonal changes.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd confide in you that I'm feeling pretty nervous about an appointment I have with my doctor tomorrow. I will have to go to the hospital to get a load of testing done because I haven't been feeling my best and that usually means that one of my medications isn't performing the way it should be. Even though I'll be glad to get an answer for why I have been feeling so poorly, it's frustrating because I have to go back on the roller coaster of playing with my doses until I find that sweet spot again.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that I'm excited to be headed into spring. I've been in the mood for the farm markets to open up so I can buy farm-fresh produce and other local products. I have lists of new recipes that I want to try, and we always have lots of family meals planned now that the days will be getting longer and warmer. It is always a very festive season and I have so many exciting things planned for the next few months that I will definitely share more about as they get closer. Bring on the warmer weather!

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you that at the beginning of the year, I made a goal to conquer two fears that I've struggled with over the course of my adult life - loneliness and rejection. I originally thought I'd look back at things I'd dealt with in the past, but I'm in the midst of experiencing both right now. So, I'm seeing this as an opportunity to go back to what I learned when I was seeing a counselor many years ago. This looks like a lot of writing and processing the things, past and present, that are weighing on my heart. While there is no way to navigate life without having to deal with this kind of pain, I am using it as a learning experience and will hopefully grow from it.

If you and I had coffee...

I'd tell you one last thing before I had to say goodbye. On Sunday, we had the most beautiful night. It was warm and the sky was crystal clear, so I turned on some music and went outside to watch the stars. I spent an hour staring up at the sky, and wow, does that put things into perspective. There is something about looking into the endless expanse of space that will make all of your problems feel small in comparison.

If you and I had coffee...

We'd linger over the last few sips of our drinks, willing them to extend our visit just a bit longer. But when it was time to go, I'd give you a hug and make a promise that we'd see each other again soon. Until then, my friend...

  1. If we met for coffee I'd tell you that I hope all goes well tomorrow with your appointment and I hope you'll keep us updated with the news. I'd let you know I'm sending positive vibes your way tomorrow and will be thinking of you.

I think it is wonderful that you are conquering your fears and I'm glad that you are finding ways to lesson the weight it has on your heart. Choosing to see something unpleasant as a learning experience is a very mature way of looking at life.

  3. I’m so excited for a change in weather too, but for me it means that things are getting a bit cooler and I’m not roasting every day! Making the choice to conquer your fears is a very brave thing to do. And those nights looking up at the stars are very special and do put things into perspective - how wonderful that the God who created all those stars knows us and loves us. Lovely to have a cuppa with you again this month!

  4. Oh wow. I love this style of post so dang much. I hope your appointment goes well and that you take notes from all those stars up there reminding you that you're certainly not alone, and while rejection stings - it's not the be-all, end-all and you will always be accepted by your blogging fam and the One who created you!

  5. Aw, I love that you named your mug Chip. That's so cute. I'm sorry you have to go through a bunch of tests, but hopefully whatever they need to adjust won't take too much tweaking!

  10. I'm sorry that you haven't been feeling well as of late. I hope that they can get things sorted out for you. Going to the hospital and having all the battery of tests done is nerve racking. I'd go with you and sit with you. I've had to go solo many times and it's no fun at all. I truly do hope that it's a simple fix. I'll keep you in my thoughts today.
I too look forward to spring and the farmers markets - all the fresh growth and smells...ahhh...I'm so with you on that. I'm glad that Sunday was a good evening. Winter is losing its grip my friend. I have hope in that. xoxo

  11. I hope your Dr. appointments go well. I know how that can be, and hopefully it's something they can adjust/fix pretty easily. I am also struggling with a lot of loneliness and rejection right now - my life has been in a bit of turmoil the last month or so and it is a struggle. Good luck <3

  16. It is amazing that God was able to create and name each and every star but also knows each and every one of us by name too. Always something I try to remember and be thankful for. :)
