Monthly Reflections | January

Wrapping up the month and sharing what I've been up to in life and on the blog. What is your favorite moment of January? #currently

Yesterday, my bestie posted a meme on Facebook that said, "It's the 834th day of January," and he wasn't lying. This felt like such a long month. Maybe it was because I spent a good portion of it looking inward and being really honest about things I want to change about myself and my life. It's frustrating to be openly critical of yourself while trying to do so in a constructive manner. One of the very things I want to change is how I run when I get uncomfortable... sort of how I'm feeling after this month of hard self-reflection. It would be easy to distract myself from the changes I need to make and push it to the side. No one ever said that work on the soul and body and mind was going to be easy. Heart work = hard work. Here's to a new month full of positive changes.

If You and I Had Coffee | vol 43

Join me for a conversation over coffee? #coffeedates

If you and I had coffee...

We'd meet up at the cafe on the corner for a quick cup and chat since both of our schedules are a little crazy at the moment, but neither of us wanted to miss out on our date. I'd order a hot black tea with honey because my throat has been a little scratchy and I'm craving something to soothe it. We'd choose a booth by the front window that overlooks a park and marvel at how pretty the view is, even though the trees are all bare for the winter.

What I Read | December

A look back at what I read last month. #ASGbookshelf #whatIread

One of these years, I'm going to pack a bag full of books and run off to a tropical beach for the holidays. I never get as much reading done in the month of December because I'm so busy planning for our family gatherings and birthdays. I did manage to get in eighteen books over the busy month, which is better than I anticipated, but I'm still so behind. January will be devoted to catching up on my reading challenge books that I've started as well as the ARCs I'm reading for publishers.

My Favorite Books of 2019

A list of the books that rocked my world in 2019. #asgbookshelf

Way back in July, I wrote a post about my favorite books from the first half of 2019 and promised I'd come back at the end of the year to update with my top ten. Looking back over the books I chose, I was reminded of the wonderful stories I got to read this year. Because I'm such a tough critic when it comes to books, there were only a handful of them that got a five-star rating, so it was easy to pull out my favorites. Only five books from the previous post made the cull and joined five from the second half of the year.

Reading Challenges for 2020 | The List

Check out my master list of all the books I'll be reading in 2020! #books #reading #asgbookshelf

People often ask me how I manage to read so many books every year. The truth is, I always have a book in my hand - or in my ear, if I'm feeling an audiobook that day. I prefer reading over watching tv, going to the movies, or participating in any organized group activities. I also don't have kids and tend to shy away from social events. Hello, introvert!
